MUMS AND BUBS PILATES IN ESSENDON, Melbourne
We are very proud to offer Mums and Bubs Clinical Pilates classes at Melbourne Sports Physiotherapy's Essendon rooms!
These classes are tailored both to new, and no so new mothers and fathers, who are keen to attend a clinical pilates classes, whilst bringing their child. We understand that a lot of new parents, especially mums, are keen to start exercise again, and this time can be incredibly busy, so we would like to make things easier for you and get you to bring your gorgeous bub along to class!
We believe that getting back into gentle exercise through Pilates is a great start to re-build strength, but also to cope with the new demands of motherhood. These classes will have a focus on pelvic floor re-training, mobility and strength work to keep you feeling good and able to enjoy your time with your new bub. The classes will be run in the same format of our other semi-private classes and there will only ever be 3 mums in a class (plus bubs). Therefore, you will each be able to receive the individual attention that you need.
Please Note: these classes are not designed for prescribing exercises to your baby. They are for the parent to attend, without the hassle of child care or minding. Your child will be resting on a mat that you provide during the class.
Sessions are suitable for mothers who have had medical clearance from either their doctors or women’s health physiotherapists (usually 6 weeks for natural births and 8 weeks post C-section). If you do have any concerns about returning to exercise we have a highly experienced Pelvic Floor & Women’s Health Physiotherapist available that will be able to address any queries and discuss an appropriate return to exercise plan for you.
Our Pilates studio is located on the first floor, so you will not be able to take your pram upstairs. You will be able to store them safely downstairs. Please bring a mat for bub to lie on and any toys or dummies that you may require.
This class is designed for new Mum’s, however if the mid morning times suits you best and you are keen to come along that is ok too, however, you will need to be comfortable with having children in your class. If you have a specific time that you'd prefer a class to be run, please let us know and we can add extra sessions as demand allows.
